FEDERICO calceFederico Calce is an expert in beauty with a passion for style and technique. Highly acclaimed for his unique and insightful approach to hairstyling, Federico has elevated the definition of a mega-modern and contemporary hair dresser. Federico arrived from Milan, Italy to New York City in the early eighties, leaving his family salon chain as a master stylist to test his abilities in the United States. His talents were immediately recognized, he was appointed Artistic Director of the salon at Bergdorf Goodman. Five years later his first namesake salon, Federico, followed. Federico has created some of the most glamorous and memorable looks to sweep fashion magazines and beauty publications. He has coiffed the head of countless models for Fendi, Valentino, and Armani fashion shows as well as for Oscar de LaRenta. He can often be found on location for photo shoots or working with performers at music festivals. As celebrity's stylist at NYC's Olympus Fashion Week 2005, Federico worked with photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders on many celebrities like Eva Longora, Nicole Richie, Jessie Metcalfe, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Rosario Dawson, Sarah Fergusson, Katie Couric, Betsy Johnson, Rachel Hunter etc. Federico has been a pioneer in developing and using the famous Thermal Reconditioning Treatment. Federico salon was the first in New York City to introduce this inventive hair-straightening technique. The treatment, originating in Japan, eliminates all traces of curl and frizz from the outside two layers of the hair shaft. The result: gleaming, brilliant, straight hair for six months or more – blow-drying is not necessary. It is a dream come true! His unrelenting, innovative nature also inspired him to design for his clients such revolutionary techniques as the jesseter 2000 cool hairdryer. An invention that dries and seals the hair cuticle from the inside out with twenty-seven plastic tubes. The result: polished, straight hair without frizz. Think Judy Jetson or Star Trek in rollers! The modernization of salon service has not stopped with these spectacular techniques. In 2001, Federico originated the only twenty-four hour in room salon service, available at many New York City exclusive hotels. A creative partnership between Federico and the renowned Italian hairdresser Rolando Elisei, brings together two professionals who constantly search for innovative and new fashion trends. Federico's famous salon will play host to Rolando's creative genius. In 2005 the duo will begin giving master classes at each other’s exclusive salons and work collaboratively on internationally recognized events, fashion shows and concerts. While Federico continues to amaze us with his visionary techniques, the members of his team are at the top of their field, having their work featured in magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, etc. Federico owes his success to a strong conviction that hairstyles represent not only the lifestyle of a person but also a way to embellish the internal and external beauty of an individual
